Campers Lined Up On Monday for AdvoCare 500 Campground Access

As the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series AdvoCare 500 weekend moves closer, fans have already started lining up for campsites in the unreserved campgrounds which open this Saturday, Aug. 27 at 8:00 a.m.

Anxious fans began lining up outside the speedway ticket office on Monday, a whole five days prior to being allowed to enter the campgrounds, and over a full week in advance of the AdvoCare 500 weekend, Sept. 2-4. They arrived early to be the first in line to secure their campsite. Many of the early arrivals are from local communities in close proximity to the speedway, but a few have come from as far away as Michigan.

Atlanta Motor Speedway’s unreserved campsites are available on a first-come, first-serve basis beginning this Saturday at 8:00 a.m. for both RV and tent camping. Unreserved camping spots are $60 per site and can be purchased at the entrance to the campgrounds. All vehicles must have either camping credentials or a tow vehicle pass to enter any campground at AMS. If needed, tow vehicle passes will be available for purchase at the entrance to the campground.

A limited number of reserved and infield camping sites are still available. Call the speedway ticket office at (770) 946-4211 for more information. The reserved campgrounds and infield will open for campers on Thursday, Sept. 1 at 2:00 p.m.

A new policy for 2011 will require all vehicles to show two tickets the Sunday, Sept. 4 AdvoCare 500 race before fans will be allowed to bring their camping vehicle into the campgrounds.
