Grammy nominated band Tonic to perform prior to CampingWorld.com 500 at PIR

Fans coming to the CampingWorld.com 500 at Phoenix International Raceway will be in for a treat prior to the race. That morning, the popular Grammy-nominated and multi-platinum rock group Tonic will perform a pre-race concert in the fan midway area at 10:30 a.m. MST.

The concert, which resulted from a partnership between PIR and Niner Sports & Entertainment, is just one part of race-day excitement and is free to all fans with a grandstand ticket for the CampingWorld.com 500. Tickets for the race start at $25 and are available online at PhoenixRaceway.com or by phone at 1-866-408-RACE (7223).

The group, which includes singer and guitarist Emerson Hart, guitarist Jeff Russo and bassist Dan Lavery, has earned a reputation as one of the best live acts in rock music after years of touring. Merging the raw honesty of rock with unabashed melody, Tonic has entertained millions of fans around the world.

Tonic has produced six Top-10 singles, including the monster hit “If You Could Only See” from their debut album Lemon Parade in 1996. That song became rock radio’s most-played single in 1997, while “Open Up Your Eyes” also received considerable airtime, driving the album into platinum status.

The group followed up its debut effort with Sugar in 1999, featuring hit singles like “You Wanted More” and “Knock Down Walls.” “You Wanted More” was featured on the soundtrack to the smash-hit movie American Pie which was also released that year.

Tonic received two Grammy nominations in 2002, one for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal and one for best Rock Album for their third effort, Head On Straight.
