South Boston Speedway Set for Daytime Racing April 20 with All Four Weekly Divisions, East Coast Flathead Fords

South Boston Speedway will host its second daytime racing event of the 2024 season and will feature all four of its NASCAR-sanctioned racing divisions and the competitors of the regional touring East Coast Flathead Fords Racing Association on Saturday afternoon, April 20, with the Viny’s Italian Restaurant & Italian Delight Family Restaurant Race Day event. The first race of the day will get the green flag at 2 p.m.

The Viny’s Italian Restaurant & Italian Delight Family Restaurant Race Day event was initially scheduled as a night race event. Track officials switched the event to a daytime event to give area racing fans the opportunity to attend Saturday’s event at South Boston Speedway as well as a CARS Tour event scheduled that night at Orange County Speedway.

“We made the switch for our loyal fans,” explained South Boston Speedway General Manager Brandon Brown. “Moving our event to a daytime event makes it possible for fans to attend both events. There was a lot of great racing in all four of our NASCAR-sanctioned racing divisions this past Saturday night, and we are excited about seeing it continue on Saturday on what is forecast to be a sunny springtime afternoon.”

The Viny’s Italian Restaurant & Italian Delight Family Restaurant Race Day event will feature six races and will be headlined by a 100-lap race for the Sentara Health Late Model Stock Car Division. Three different drivers, Craig Moore, Blake Stallings, and Jacob Borst, have emerged in Victory Lane through the first three races of the season, and a new winner could possibly emerge on Saturday.

Double 30-lap races are set for the Budweiser Limited Sportsman Division. In addition, the competitors in the Southside Disposal Pure Stock Division will battle it out in a 25-lap race and a 20-lap race is set for the Virginia State Police HEAT Hornets Division. Fans will also see the competitors of the regional touring East Coast Flathead Fords Racing Association in action in a 25-lap race.

The Saturday, April 20 Viny’s Italian Restaurant & Italian Delight Family Restaurant Race Day schedule has registration and pit gates opening at 8:30 a.m. Frontstretch spectator gates will open at 10:30 a.m. Practice will run from 10:30 a.m. until 12:15 p.m., qualifying is set for 1 p.m. and the first race of the afternoon is set to get the green flag at 2 p.m.
