600,000 Horses Roar to Life During Charlotte Motor Speedway’s 2011 Fall Season of Speed

More than 600,000 horsepower will surge through Charlotte Motor Speedway, zMAX Dragway and The Dirt Track at Charlotte as the legendary motorsports complex showcases its 2011 Fall Season of Speed.

During the next four months, Charlotte Motor Speedway will host thousands of race cars, monster trucks, motorcycles and classic cars in the largest fall event schedule ever produced for race fans.

“From nitro-burning Top Fuel dragsters to dirt-slinging sprint cars to America’s most popular racing series with the Chase for the Sprint Cup, we’ve got something to give every race fan an adrenaline rush,” said Marcus Smith, president and general manager of Charlotte Motor Speedway. “With this incredible lineup from NASCAR, NHRA, the World of Outlaws and more, there’s no doubt the Charlotte Motor Speedway complex is truly the ‘greatest place to see the race.’”

Major highlights on the fall calendar include the Circle K Back-to-School Monster Truck Bash on Aug. 13; O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Nationals Sept. 15-18; the NASCAR Bank of America 500 Week Oct. 12-15; and the World of Outlaws World Finals Nov. 3-5.

Other Fall Season of Speed events include the Aug. 25-28 Food Lion AutoFair, which will feature unique vehicles like the Flatmobile, the world’s lowest street legal car, modeled after the Batmobile from the 1960s hit television series. Also, the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour will close its 2011 season in the UNOH Southern Slam 150 following NASCAR Sprint Cup Series qualifying on Bojangles’ Pole Night, Oct. 13.

Charlotte Motor Speedway’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race will take on a different look this year, sporting a pink theme for the Dollar General 300 Miles of Courage on Oct. 14, to raise awareness for the fight against breast cancer and raise funds for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Finally, Charlotte Motor Speedway will ring in the holidays with the return of Carolina Christmas, one of the largest drive-through holiday light parks in the country, running Nov. 23 through Dec. 31. Fans can complete some of their holiday shopping during the annual Souvenir & Race Ticket Blowout, Nov. 25, with discounts on tickets and merchandise and the opportunity to drive a personal vehicle on the famous 1.5-mile superspeedway.

“Fourteen events will take place across our three venues during the next four months to bring nearly a half-million people to the greater Charlotte region,” Smith said. “This drives our area economy and puts people to work. Our Fall Season of Speed is unmatched by any other speedway and will create memories for our fans that will last a lifetime.”

With children’s tickets for many events priced at just $10, entertaining the entire family at a major sports event has never been more affordable. Great ticket packages are available for all events, like the Bank of America 500 Week Super Ticket. For just $99, fans can get a ticket to the World of Outlaws Late Model Showdown at The Dirt Track on Oct. 12, Bojangles’ Pole Night on Oct. 13, the NASCAR Nationwide Series Dollar General 300 Miles of Courage on Oct. 14 and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Bank of America 500 Saturday night, Oct. 15.
