Trent Staley Joins Iowa Speedway Staff As VP Of Marketing

Trent Staley has been named vice president of marketing at Iowa Speedway. Staley joins the Speedway after serving four years in NASCAR’s entertainment marketing division.

“Trent is going to add a fresh, new dimension while leading our communication, ticket operations and marketing efforts,” said Iowa Speedway President Jimmy Small. “He brings a fantastic sports marketing background coupled with passionate energy and enthusiasm to our world-class events at a time we are positioned for growth. Our strong team just became stronger.”

Staley’s NASCAR responsibilities included business development and marketing of entertainment projects using Driver Star Power to target youth and multi-cultural demographics. Staley also played a leadership role in the implementation of the company-wide Industry Action Plan (IAP). The platforms of this comprehensive strategic plan include targeting youth, Millenials and multicultural segments; focusing on product relevance, optimizing engagement with the social community, utilizing driver star power and the overall event experience.

As a part of the Military Support IAP, Staley managed the relationship with the USO, which has sent drivers on overseas tours to Kuwait and Guantanamo Bay and brought Wounded Warriors to NASCAR events.

In his new role, Staley is responsible for spearheading local and national marketing efforts for Iowa Speedway while utilizing NASCAR assets.

“I feel fortunate to have this opportunity and look forward to continuing to build and improve on the successful events hosted at Iowa Speedway,” Staley said. “I’m especially excited about our upcoming races in July, the American Ethanol 200 presented by Enogen and Iowa Corn 300 presented by DEKALB, as well as the Autolite Iridium XP 150 and US Cellular 250 races in August. These will both be great weekends for our fans!”

“We have an awesome venue and I’m proud to be working with Jimmy and the staff at Iowa Speedway to provide the central Iowa community and beyond with a first-class entertainment experience.”

A native of Portland, Oregon, Staley attended the University of Southern California where he was an All-American swimmer and captain for the Trojans. Staley is a former US National Swim Team member and 2004 National Champion in the 200-meter backstroke.

In 2010, Staley was honored with USA Swimming’s Athletes’ Appreciation Award for his years of volunteer leadership in the sport. Staley served in multiple capacities including six years as a member of USA Swimming’s Board of Directors before beginning his career at NASCAR.
