Collective Soul and Switchfoot Perform at Chicagoland Speedway’s Rally, Rock & Race Weekend

Chicagoland Speedway today announced rock bands Collective Soul and Switchfoot as co-headliners for a Friday night kickoff concert at Chicagoland Speedway ahead of Saturday’s Ansell ActivArmr 150 ARCA Racing Series and the return of Summer night racing with the  EnjoyIllinois.com 300NASCAR Nationwide Series race.

Following the NASCAR Nationwide Series final practice on Friday evening, Collective Soul and Switchfoot will perform on the main stage in Chicagoland Speedway’s Champions Park beginning at 8 p.m. Tickets or Infield Camping Admissions will be required for access to Champions Park on Friday evening to attend the concert performance.  Entry to Champions Park for the concert begins at 7 p.m. following the Season Ticket Holder Trackside Party.  For those guests camping on-site, shuttle service will be running to and from the campground areas throughout the evening.

Bringing in musical acts as talented as Switchfoot and Collective Soul for a Friday night concert, ahead of Saturday night’s EnjoyIllinois.com 300, gives our fans the summer weekend they deserve.”

As they enter their 17th year as a band, Switchfoot has achieved a level of success that brothers Jon and Tim Foreman and their high-school friend Chad Butler never anticipated when forming the band in San Diego in 1996. The SoCal natives have sold 5.5 million copies worldwide of their eight studio albums (including their 2003 double-platinum breakthrough The Beautiful Letdown and 2009’s Grammy Award-winning Hello Hurricane), racked up a string of Alternative radio hit singles (“Meant to Live,” “Dare You To Move,” “Mess of Me,” “The Sound (John M. Perkins’ Blues),” “Dark Horses,” and “Afterlife”), performed sold-out world tours (visiting five continents in the past year alone), raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to aid homeless kids in their community through their own Bro-Am Foundation, and earned themselves a global fan base devoted to Switchfoot’s emotionally intelligent and uplifting brand of alternative rock.

Hailing from the city of Atlanta, Georgia, Collective Soul shot to international fame with their 1993 release Hints, Allegations and Things Left Unsaid, and their mega #1 hit “Shine.” The album was a collection of Ed Roland’s demos that spread quickly through the college underground circuit and caught fire, going on to achieve Double-Platinum status. The self-titled sophomore follow up album, Collective Soul, was released in March of 1995. Containing four outstanding singles (three of which reached #1), “December,” “The World I Know,” “Where The River Flows,” and “Gel,” it became Collective Soul’s highest selling album to date. The album went Triple-Platinum and spent 76 weeks on the Billboard Top 200 charts.

Advance tickets for the EnjoyIllinois.com 300 start at just $30 for adults and $5 for kids, while Fan Zone Pit Passes are only $25. A race ticket also includes access to the Ansell ActivArmr 150 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, running on the same day.
