Our country is defined by the lyrics of our National Anthem. And our NASCAR Sprint Cup races don’t run until fans, drivers and crew pay their respects to the stars and stripes. This summer, New Hampshire Motor Speedway will mark this tradition with even greater meaning as “The National Anthem Girl” performs before her largest crowd at the Camping World RV Sales 301 on July 13.
Janine Stange, also known as “The National Anthem Girl” will stand before a crowd of nearly 100,000 fans on July 13 and sing “The Star Spangled Banner” as part of a 50-state tour to celebrate our nation’s patriotic song.
The Camping World RV Sales 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway will be stop No. 41. This will be her largest live audience yet. She will sing a salute to our nation in every state by September 14, the official bicentennial of the national anthem, famously penned by Francis Scott Key.
“NASCAR fans are known for their patriotic pride and I am absolutely honored to be able to sing the National Anthem at New Hampshire Motor Speedway,” said Stange, whose most recent stop will be in Clarinda, Iowa on Thursday, May 22. “Having a connection to the community with a long history of supporting our country, and military, makes me proud as I’m on this journey to sing ‘The Star Spangled Banner’ in all 50 states. I look forward to the moment we all rise, unite and put our hands over our hearts and sing our national anthem on July 13.”
Fueled by a desire to promote patriotism, Stange began her journey across the United States singing at venues that include Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J; Madison Square Garden (New York Knicks) in New York, N.Y.; Sports Authority Field in Denver, Colo., and the Pauley Pavilion, home of UCLA Bruins college basketball. She recently appeared on the morning cable talk show, “Fox & Friends” and sang the national anthem to millions of viewers who donated funds to support her travelling expenses.
In addition to singing the national anthem at the race, Stange will have a table located on the speedway grounds with special cards for NASCAR fans to sign and be placed with care packages provided by Operation Gratitude and sent to the troops overseas.
“Our fans have huge hearts, and there is no question they will be eager to participate in any activity that brings attention and appreciation to the men and women who defend and protect our country,” said Jerry Gappens, executive vice president and general manager of New Hampshire Motor Speedway. “We are proud to be a part of this unique event.”
Stange founded the nonprofit National Anthem Girl Organization and has performed “The Star Spangled Banner” hundreds of times over the last several years in her journey across the United States.
