Pit Note 1: See the Stars (and Stripes) During Coca-Cola 600 Weekend

SEE THE STARS: What’s the No. 1 wish of nearly every race fan? To see the NASCAR stars up close and personal. Charlotte Motor Speedway is doing its part to fulfill that wish, offering a full slate of events this Coca-Cola 600 weekend that give fans a chance to mingle with the top drivers in the sport.

Coca-Cola Racing Family Members Tony Stewart, Danica Patrick, Elliott Sadler and Darrell Wallace, Jr. will participate in Friday’s Coca-Cola Family Track Walk, which begins at 2:30 p.m. Any fan with a ticket to Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600 is invited to take part in this event, which serves as a fundraising event for Speedway Children’s Charities, the charitable arm of CMS parent company Speedway Motorsports Inc. Fans and drivers will make one lap on the banks of the 1.5-mile speedway while being treated to a musical performance by headliner Chase Rice, who is currently on tour with country star Dierks Bentley, along with hydration stations provided by Coca-Cola. Fans without Coca-Cola 600 tickets may still participate in the track walk with a $20 donation; children 13 and under are free. The complete schedule is as follows:

2:30 PM– Gates Open
2:45 PM– The Track Walk starts
2:50 PM– Danica Patrick Driver Appearance
3:00 PM– Tony Steward Driver Appearance
3:10 PM– Elliott Sadler and Bubba Wallace Driver Appearances
3:30 PM-United States Paralympic athlete Blake Leeper Q&A
3:45 PM– Chase Rice Concert
4:30 PM– Concert and Track Walk Conclude

But the opportunities to get close to the NASCAR drivers don’t end there. There are two different pre-race hospitality parties scheduled for Sunday before the start of the Coca-Cola 600 that allow fans unprecedented access to the drivers before the longest race in NASCAR.

The Coca-Cola Party includes appearances by Danica Patrick, Denny Hamlin and Tony Stewart, as well as great food and Coca-Cola products, fun games and Coca-Cola prizes. The party starts Sunday at 2 p.m., and tickets are $69 per person.

Kicking off at the same time Sunday, the Ford Racing VIP Hospitality part includes appearances by Richard Petty, Brad Keselowski, Carl Edwards, Marcos Ambrose, Aric Almirola and Jimmy Fennig. Food, drinks and prizes will also be part of the festivities, and tickets are $69 per person.

MEMORIAL DAY COLORS FOR COCA-COLA 600 – As has become tradition at Charlotte Motor Speedway, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is loaded with special paint and decal schemes in honor of the patriotic Memorial Day weekend.

Budweiser is again featuring the ‘Folds of Honor’ program on the No. 4 Kevin Harvick Chevrolet, while the National Guard Chevrolet has another in a series of special designs on the No. 88 driven by Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Brad Keselowski’s No. 2 Ford is featuring a special red, white and-blue scheme with stars and stripes saluting ‘Miller Time for America.’ Lowe’s also has a red, white and blue with stars scheme for six-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion Jimmie Johnson on the No. 48 Chevrolet. The Roush Racing Fords of Carl Edwards (No.99), Greg Biffle (No. 16), and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (No. 17) all feature sponsor Fastenal with a patriotic stars-and-stripes design.

The US Air Force has its traditional blue colors on the No. 43 Ford of Aric Almirola, while Geico has come up with a unique white and camouflage scheme for the No. 13 Chevrolet of Casey Mears. The No. 32 Ford of Blake Koch also has a special camo color for car sponsor supportmiltary.org. The No. 31 Chevrolet of Ryan Newman has a special red, white and blue look for sponsor Quicken Loans.

Some other cars featuring special red, white blue colors include Landon Cassill (No. 40 Chevrolet), J. J. Yeley (No.44 Chevrolet) and Michael McDowell (No. 95 Ford).

Even the Charlotte Motor Speedway Toyota Camry pace cars feature a unique red, white and-blue design with stars Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600.
