An American Salute was announced yesterday as a 6-week platform beginning this Memorial Day Weekend to rally teams, tracks, fans and partners to collectively honor active and retired service members and military families. Talladega Superspeedway, which along with NASCAR has a longstanding tradition of patriotism and supporting the troops, joins the celebration after kicking off the month of May with the presentation of the track’s new “Freedom Trophy.”
The Freedom Trophy, which displays all five United States military branches (Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard), will be awarded to each NASCAR Sprint Cup Series winner by a different military representative.
