Talladega Superspeedway’s “Big One On The Blvd.” Parade a Huge Hit with Fans & Drivers Alike

Talladega Superspeedway’s first “Big One on Blvd.” parade last Friday evening in the track’s infamous infield – NASCAR’s Party Capital – will go down as one of the most entertaining non-racing events the 2.66-mile venue has ever seen, and will surely become a new Talladega tradition.

With hundreds of fans in attendance, four of NASCAR’s top drivers – Clint Bowyer, Kevin Harvick, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Austin Dillon – rode down Talladega Blvd. on a specially-designed float, greeting fans along the way. When the float parked at the end of the Blvd., some of Talladega’s finest participated in a MoonPie eating contest and several BBQ Sauce Wrestling matches. The enormous crowd of onlookers that surrounded the Blvd. was treated to a taste of Talladega’s wild side – something that can’t be found anywhere else.

And what did the quartet of drivers, who have been known to stroll the Blvd. in the past, have to say about the event?

“Talladega sure knows how to throw a party,” said Dillon, driver of the No. 3 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet. “I like to call it Tallamania. If you weren’t a part of this event, you need to make plans to attend next year. I had a blast.”

“It was great to see the fans all coming together for a big party,” said Roush Fenway Racing driver Stenhouse, who had nothing but a smile on his face during the events. “It was awesome to see them having a great time which is what it’s all about. I’ve heard stories of Talladega Blvd. from years ago, and we were bringing that back with this event. Talladega Superspeedway definitely knows how to throw a party for their fans.”

“Last night was a perfect example of what Talladega Blvd. should be,” added Harvick, driver of the No. 4 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevy.

“Now this is what Talladega is all about – having clean fun and making sure everyone has a smile on their face, with both the racing and the social atmosphere,” exclaimed Michael Waltrip Racing driver Bowyer.  “I can’t wait for the next one. And, there will be a next one, and we will make it bigger and better. This is Talladega baby!”
