Support the NASCAR Foundation and Autism Speaks at the May 31 track walk at Dover

Dover International Speedway will host a track walk to benefit The NASCAR Foundation and Autism Speaks, immediately following the May 31, 2014 NASCAR Nationwide Series race.

Denny Hamlin, driver of the No. 11 FedEx Toyota in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, will kick off the walk, which will afford fans the unique opportunity to walk the entire one-mile, concrete oval, all while raising money for two commendable organizations. Brad Daugherty, ESPN NASCAR analyst and former NBA player, will also participate in the walk.

Online registration in advance costs $20 for adults and $25 at the track on race weekend. Children ages 14 and younger can register for just $10. Online registration is available now at http://www.nascarfoundation.org/events/nascar-unites-track-walk-dover-international-speedway.

On-site registration will be held at The NASCAR Foundation display in the FanZone, just outside Turn 4 of the track, on Friday, May 30 and Saturday, May 31.

Walkers and participants should gather near the Monster Monument in Victory Plaza after the NASCAR Nationwide Series race, approximately 5:30 p.m., where Hamlin will help get the event started by participating in a free question-and-answer session for fans. Following that, participants will proceed into the track for the walk.

All participants will depart in groups being led by dogs from PAWS for People. All walkers will have the opportunity to interact with the dogs or even register, prior to the kick-off, to help walk the dogs (space is limited). PAWS for People (Pet-Assisted Visitation Volunteer Services) is a non-profit organization committed to providing therapeutic visits to any person in the community who would benefit from interaction with a well-trained, loving pet.

The May 30-June 1, 2014 race weekend marks the eighth straight year that the Monster Mile is teaming up with Autism Speaks, the world’s leading autism science and advocacy organization, for its spring event weekend. For the fourth straight year, FedEx has teamed up with Autism Speaks to present the June 1 “FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks” NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race. With the help of Autism Speaks and FedEx, the weekend focuses on raising autism awareness among the fans in attendance.
