Virginia529 College Savings Plan Extends Partnership With Richmond International Raceway

Richmond International Raceway officials announced today the Virginia529 College Savings Plan has extended its partnership with America’s Premier Short Track through the 2015 season. The Virginia529 College Savings 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race kicks off the September NASCAR Doubleheader weekend “under the lights” on Friday night, September 5. The Virginia529 College Savings Plan remains the Official College Savings Plan of the track, presenting sponsor of the Family Section presented by Virginia529 College Savings Plan and the Virginia529 Kids Zone powered by the Science Museum of Virginia.

“Virginia529 is pleased to team up with RIR again for the NASCAR Nationwide Series race on September 5,” said Mary G. Morris, CEO of Virginia529. “With our tax-advantaged college savings programs available to people across the U.S. and useable at schools and training programs around the world, this partnership allows us to reach and assist thousands of families in achieving their higher education goals. We also will continue to offer at both of RIR’s NASCAR weekends the Virginia529 Kids Zone, an assortment of fun and free educational activities fueled by our partners, including the Science Museum of Virginia. The Kids Zone is a wonderful learning opportunity where participants experience STEM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Math) concepts through play and then watch them put into action on the racetrack.”

“Having Virginia529 College Savings Plan as a partner extends beyond the namesake of the race,” said RIR President Dennis Bickmeier. “The ability to bring awareness of college savings programs to our fans throughout the year, and the opportunity to welcome youth and families to the track on race weekend is invaluable.”

The Virginia529 College Savings 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race is part of one of the biggest weekends on the entire NASCAR season schedule. The September NASCAR Doubleheader Weekend at Richmond International Raceway features two great races “under the lights”—the Virginia529 College Savings 250 on Friday night, September 5 and the Federated Auto Parts 400 – “One Last Race to Make The Chase” NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on Saturday night, September 6.
