Phoenix to release 50th anniversary commemorative book

Phoenix International Raceway has been a part of the motor sports scene since 1964. From its genesis as an open-wheel destination through its present-day status as a stock car haven, the one-mile desert oval has built a reputation as a unique challenge for drivers and as a memory maker for all who have visited over the last 50 years.

To celebrate and acknowledge the track’s golden anniversary, PIR president Bryan R. Sperber announced today the release of a limited-edition commemorative book documenting the past 50 years. ‘Phoenix At 50: A Half-Century of Racing’ is a comprehensive journey through the last five decades of racing in the Valley of the Sun.

Comprised of a collection of work by writers from varying backgrounds that have shared their talents to bring these stories together – including a foreword from ‘The King,’ Richard Petty – the book tells the stories and the secrets that the track has held for fifty years.

The book will be available for purchase at PIR merchandise locations throughout the track during the Feb. 28 – March 2 NASCAR event weekend. After the race weekend, the book will be available for purchase at the PIR ticket window and on Amazon.com.
