City of Homestead to Host Speedfest 2013 Burger Brawl

New to 2013 Ford Championship Weekend, Homestead Main Street is joining forces with the Homestead/Florida City Chamber of Commerce as well as Homestead-Miami Speedway in producing a free festival for the community in the downtown historic district.

On Saturday (Nov. 16), eight restaurants will battle it out for the Speedfest 2013 Burger Brawl on Krome Avenue. The restaurants will set up gas grills on Krome Avenue in Homestead from NW 2nd Street to the railroad past Mowry Drive, in front of Losner Park.  

The burger competition will begin at 6:00 p.m. EDT, just after the checkered flag waves on the NASCAR Nationwide Series Ford EcoBoost 300. Fan can indulge in their favorite burgers, and fan favorite judging will begin at 9:00. p.m. Local band Deck 52 will be performing live music in Losner Park, and admission is free to all guests. 

“We are excited to be a part of the inaugural Speedfest 2013,” Becherer said. “We are proud partners of the Homestead/Florida City Chamber of Commerce, and the Burger Brawl will be a perfect event for fans after the conclusion of the NASCAR Nationwide Series Championship race, the Ford EcoBoost 300.”

Fans hoping to attend the event after the Ford EcoBoost 300 will be able to catch the Homestead Trolley from Homestead-Miami Speedway to the Speedfest 2013 Burger Brawl beginning at 6:00 p.m., with trolleys running approximately every 15 minutes from Gate 1 of the speedway. The last trolley will return from the Burger Brawl to Gate 1 of Homestead-Miami Speedway at 10:00 p.m.
