Towing and tanks coming to Speed & Feed BBQ cook-off and car show

Darlington Raceway’s inaugural Speed & Feed BBQ Cook-Off and Car Show presented by Piggly Wiggly continues to build a solid lineup for next Friday and Saturday’s free event at the track Too Tough to Tame.

The latest additions will include a merchandise display from the hit TV show Lizard Lick Towing, an M1A1 Abrams tank, courtesy of the South Carolina Army National Guard, and a Saturday afternoon concert performed by the John Curtis Lewis Band.

The Lizard Lick Towing merchandise display, located in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series garage, will have a variety of products available for purchase. In addition, cast members Cousin Johnny and Krazy Dave will participate in the two-day festival.

Lizard Lick Towing, which originates in Lizard Lick, N.C., just outside of Raleigh, airs on truTV.

“Lizard Lick Towing has a very passionate fan base, especially here in the Pee Dee area, so it’s fantastic they are coming to our inaugural Speed & Feed BBQ Cook-Off and Car Show event,” track President Chip Wile said. “We are working hard daily trying to find ways to enhance what is already shaping up to be a great event. I am looking forward to seeing the Darlington community at the track on Friday and Saturday.”

The M1A1 Abrams tank is the principal battle tank for the U.S. Army. It has been a staple in defending the United States since the early 1980’s. The tank will be on display both days and available for photos with our guests.

The John Curtis Lewis Band is local group from Florence, S.C. They are regulars on the local music scene and play at a number of venues in the Pee Dee area.
