DIS President Chitwood Talks About “Taking Better Care of Our Customer and Driving the Passion of Sport”

On Friday, Sept. 27, Daytona International Speedway hosted the first Sports Business Insider Series – an eight-part webcast series of panel discussions with prominent sports business and media executives, and political/community leaders addressing the most current issues in major sports.

The series, which took place at the International Motorsports Center across from Daytona International Speedway, was hosted by International Speedway Corp. and moderated by national sports media personality Rick Horrow.

The panel was comprised of:

  • Joie Chitwood III, President, Daytona International Speedway
  • Mark Lamping, President, Jacksonville Jaguars
  • Mike Millay, Director of Sports Business Development, ESPN’s Wide World of Sports 
  • John Bisignano, President/CEO, Central Florida Sports Commission

The panelists discussed a wide variety of topics surrounding the state of sports business in Florida including the importance of enhancing the fan experience, competing with other entertainment options and the Speedway’s $400 million DAYTONA Rising project.  Chitwood’s comments begin in the 25th minute.
