Monster Monument in Victory Plaza now features a new ‘Gen 6’ Toyota Camry in time for race weekend at Dover

One of the most recognizable structures in all of motorsports today received a new addition, as the Monster Monument in Victory Plaza at Dover International Speedway now features a “Gen 6” Toyota Camry in the Monster’s hand, just in time for the Sept. 27-29, 2013 NASCAR race weekend.

One of the most unique features of the Monster Monument, since it was built in 2008, has been the full-sized stock car that rests in its right hand. The all-new Toyota Camry in the Monster’s hand will make its official debut this race weekend, as Speedway officials and track partner Toyota felt the updated car’s entrance to the sport in 2013 made this the perfect time.

“The ‘Gen 6’ car has been met with a bevy of praise from our loyal fan base,” said Mike Tatoian, executive vice president and COO of Dover Motorsports, Inc. “We’re excited to work with a great partner like Toyota to update the car in Miles’ hand to the new NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Toyota Camry. Not only does this give the Monument a new, updated look, it also refreshes one of the most popular photo destinations on all of NASCAR.”

In addition to the new car, a marquee plaque honoring NASCAR Hall of Famer David Pearson has been added to the Monument’s base. Pearson won five times in only 16 attempts at the Monster Mile, finished in the top-five a total of 12 times and holds the track record for poles won with six.
