Test your golf swing for a chance to play with Denny Hamlin

The time is now to let your talent drive you to victory. And you just might win a chance to play golf with NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin. On Thursday, July 25 Hamlin will be at Thousand Oaks Golf Course in Grand Rapids, Mich. as part of the NASCAR Victory Tour to celebrate racing at Michigan International Speedway.

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Pure Michigan 400 comes to Michigan International Speedway on Sunday, Aug. 18. NASCAR’s fastest track will host the Camping World Truck Series Michigan National Guard 200 on Saturday, Aug. 17.

“We are looking forward to the Michigan National Guard 200 and the Pure Michigan 400 in August,” track President Roger Curtis said. “The racing will be intense and high-paced at NASCAR’s fastest track. It is exciting to start the lead up to the race with Denny as he gets to play golf with some of our great fans.”

But the action will be just as intense in Grand Rapids when Michigan International Speedway invites guests out to prepare for the upcoming races.

Whether you are a golfer or a fan of NASCAR, the day will be filled with activities for anybody.

WBBL will broadcast live at the driving range for two hours, inviting listeners to the course for an opportunity to be Hamlin’s caddy for the day. A specially designed Hamlin banner will be hoisted and fans can take their shots to hit the banner with a golf ball. Contestants who hit the banner will have their name put into a drawing for the chance to caddy for Hamlin.

The activities do not stop there. Michigan International Speedway will hold three golf-themed contests – long-ball drive, closest to the pin and a putting challenge – beginning at 12:30 p.m. The winner of each contest will earn a right to play a hole of golf with Hamlin. You don’t want to miss your chance to golf with Hamlin.

It’s a one-of-a-kind opportunity to test your golf skills against one of NASCAR’s most popular drivers.

Even if you are not able to make it to Thousand Oaks Golf Course, you can still interact with Hamlin. He will be hosting a special twitter Q&A. You can tweet @MISpeedway using #AskDenny at 2 p.m. that day.

Do you have a question for Hamlin? You might just get the chance to ask him during the fan Q&A portion of the day.

Hamlin is an avid golfer when he is not behind the wheel of the Joe Gibbs Racing FedEx Toyota. He has appeared in celebrity tournaments, including tournaments in Charleston, S.C. and Lake Tahoe, Nev. On the track, Hamlin has had much success in NASCAR, clinching a spot in the Chase for the Sprint Cup in all seven seasons he has competed full-time in the series. The Chesterfield, Va. native has 22 victories in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series competition, including two victories in the June races at MIS in 2010 and 2011.
