Former two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year Mark Eaton, who stands a mighty seven feet four inches tall, was amazed at the mammoth size of Talladega Superspeedway during a visit Thursday. Eaton, who holds the NBA career average for blocked shots per game (3.50), mimics holding up the incredible four-story, 33-degree banked fourth turn at TSS.
Eaton, who played for the Utah Jazz from 1982-93, was on location serving as a motivational speaker for a group at the International Motorsports Hall of Fame, located outside turn four at Talladega. His motto – Stand Tall. Play Big – rings especially true at the 2.66-mile Talladega Superspeedway, where four-wide racing at NASCAR’s biggest and most competitive track amongst the greatest drivers in the world is common.
