Atlanta Motor Speedway Hosts American Red Cross Blood Drive on May 31

Atlanta Motor Speedway will host the fifth annual Drive For Life blood drive with the American Red Cross on Tuesday, May 31 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the track’s infield media center.

Each presenting blood donor will receive a commemorative t-shirt, a ticket to an upcoming Thursday Thunder race (except for the June 30 event) and a pace car ride around Atlanta Motor Speedway. Pace car rides will be given until sundown. All presenting blood donors will also be entered to win a Labor Day race weekend ticket package, which includes two tickets to all three NASCAR night races Sept. 2-4, in addition to two race weekend pre-race pit passes.

The Drive for Life blood drive’s goal is to help meet the on-going need for more than 1,200 blood donations each weekday in addition to helping maintain a safe blood supply. This year’s drive is aiming to collect 300 pints of blood.

“NASCAR fans are dedicated to the sport and have proven to be just as committed to helping save lives by donating blood,” said Randy Edwards, chief executive officer, American Red Cross Southern Blood Services Region.  “The Red Cross is grateful to the Atlanta Motor Speedway and its fans for their continued support of the Drive for Life.”

Most healthy people age 17 and older, or 16 with parental consent, who weigh at least 110 pounds are eligible to donate blood every 56 days. Donors who are 18 and younger must also meet specific height and weight requirements.
