BCM Solutions to Implement Segway® Patrollers to Enhance Security at NASCAR and IndyCar Racing Events

Today, Segway Inc. (“Segway”) announced that it’s ‘Teaming Up For Security’ with BCM Solutions, Inc. (BCM Solutions), the motorsports industry’s largest security provider. The companies will exhibit together in Booth #13 at the NASCAR Security Summit in Concord, North Carolina from January 6-8, 2013.

BCM Solutions will deploy Segway Patrollers beginning with the 2013 and 2014 NASCAR and IndyCar race seasons to enhance its overall security efforts. Across all racing series, each season includes nearly 100 races throughout the United States. Note the following:

• Motorsports in the United States account for 18 of the 20 largest attended single day sporting events in the world.
• The Indy 500 is the largest attended single day sporting event in the world.
• NASCAR races often attract larger crowds than a Super Bowl, World Series game and NBA Final game combined.
• BCM services race events whose combined attendance is in excess of 2.5 million fans over the course of a season. In 2013, that number is expected to rise to between 3 and 4 million fans.

“During each race week, we deploy well over 300 security and management team members that are responsible for securing race track properties that can sprawl across hundreds of acres, feature 1-2.5 miles of track, have dozens of participating race teams with multi-million dollar assets and draw crowds in excess of two hundred thousand people,” said Tim Westhoff, Vice President – Sales & Marketing, BCM Solutions, Inc. “Our relationship with Segway, which has enabled us to add the Segway Patroller to our arsenal of security tools, makes great sense. The Patroller will instantly improve the visibility, mobility and productivity of our security supervisors.”

“We are pleased with the consumer exposure the Segway Patroller will receive,” said Chip MacDonald, Director, Global Police & Government Business, Segway Inc. “More importantly, we are incredibly proud to support BCM’s efforts to enhance public safety at racing events. Their success will continue to justify Segway Patroller deployments in markets, like sporting event security, all across the globe.”
