Josh White, West Virginia’s Next Racing Star

Josh White likes to go explore the outdoors, spend time with family, and be involved with the military, but there is one thing he really enjoys more than anything. White loves to race. Josh White will take to the track in 2013 racing a full season in the ARCA Truck Series with hopes of racing in a couple ARCA or NASCAR K&N races. He is already miles ahead of his competition off the track and looks forward to using this momentum on the track next season.

 

Between looking for sponsors for next season, working on the truck, and talking with fans on social media White takes time to enjoy the great outdoors.  Throughout the offseason White has been hunting with his teammates and they have been sharing some pretty impressive photos of their trips. Thanks to White’s new sponsor, Steel Force Broadheads, him and his teammates are sure not to run out of broadheads for their arrows. When you cannot find White in the deep woods of wonderful West Virginia you might see him with fellow military personal.

 

White is part of the Marine Corps Reserve and looks to give back to the military during his racing career. “I will be partnering with several military organizations, to give those who are living on base a friend and someone there for them. This connection might bring a connection between myself and the other soldiers; I know where they are coming from.” If White gets the opportunity to race near a base he wants to bring them out to the track for some fun. We are starting to see this more and more with other race teams such as Kurt Busch and his girlfriend’s organization and most recently with Joey Logano and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. visiting troops overseas. It is great to see these drivers taking time to visit and thank our men and women out there fighting to protect the freedoms we have here back at home such as watching and enjoying racing.

 

Some other entertaining facts about Josh White include that he has a lot of experience of being handy.  White is able to weld, construct, and he says he is pretty good at art. “As a kid I drew and painted a lot. I once drew Jeff Gordon’s racecar when I was 5 years old from memory on my porch at the farm,” White also brought up that he used to draw wolves, dolphins, and numerous race car drawings.  Staying with the arts theme, White went on to explain his favorite movie. Days of Thunder is an iconic movie for any fan of motorsports that stars Tom Cruise and his characters’ rise to winning the Daytona 500. “I want to be Cole Trickle; I have wanted to be a Cup driver ever since I first watched that movie. I have watched Days of Thunder at least a thousand times, and when I turn it on my family always says “Oh Gosh,” White joked.

 

“I want to beat them all,” is the mindset that Josh White has entering the 2013 racing season and he wants to end up the next Jimmie Johnson, a NASCAR Cup Champion. “Coming out of West Virginia you don’t find that very often” White continued on. He wants to bring the “true meaning of NASCAR back”, bring more fans to NASCAR and be at the top of the podium victorious in one of the most challenging sports in the world.  “Back in the day you had more interaction and the fans had fun. I want to bring back the fans that NASCAR lost.” NASCAR has had lost the driver-fan interaction that made it famous, but they are slowly bringing it back.

 

Look for this driver at a short track near you next season and in time on your television. Josh White is what NASCAR needs to bring the youth into the sport and to return the series back to its traditional roots. While he is racing in the ARCA Truck series next season, he will be working hard to reaching his dreams. Recently, White reached 1,500 likes on Facebook and he is fan base is growing each day and he keeps his page fresh with interactive questions and pictures.  Most recently his picture of him in his Marine Corps uniform had great feedback. White is mixing his old school life with twenty first century and will continue to help bridge the gaps that motorsports is lacking.
