Kody King Victorious Twice In Texas

Kody King put together a strong weekend at Texas Motor Speedway with the Lonestar Legends, which included a pole and a pair of victories Saturday evening in Bandolero Bandit competition.

King kicked off the Lonestar Legends weekend on Friday by earning two runner-up results. That gave the 12-year-old native of Clear Lake, Iowa, plenty of momentum heading into Saturday’s finale.

That momentum carried into Saturday, where King collected a pole award to open the day. He followed it up with not one, but two victories in his Bandolero. The double win weekend brings King’s victory total to seven this season as he continues his pursuit of the Bandolero Bandit National Championship.

One of his victories at Texas Motor Speedway came in a National qualifying race, his fifth victory in a National qualifier this season. Winning a National qualifier guarantees King a starting place in the Bandolero East Championship at Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, Ga., on Aug. 31-Sept. 1.

“It was a really good weekend in Texas,” said King, a member of the Lee Faulk Racing and Development driver development program. “We started off strong with two runner-up finishes and on Saturday we did even better by getting a pole and two wins. It’s hard to complain about a weekend like that.

“Thanks to my parents and grandparents for believing in me and letting me do all this traveling so I can race. It’s amazing to race all over the country like we are and winning makes it really special.”

Michael Faulk, the director of operations of Lee Faulk Racing and Development, is looking forward to having King climb into a Legend car in the future.

“I continue to be impressed with Kody,” Faulk said. “He’s going to be a pro at points racing by the time he gets to a full bodied stock car. He doesn’t seem to be affected by the pressure that comes with chasing championships. I can’t wait to get him in a Legend car and see how he does.”

King will continue his busy schedule with several more events over the coming weeks as he prepares for the Bandolero East Championship at the end of the month.
