Seavey’s Runner-up Finish Leads Toyota At FALS POWRI

Logan Seavey charged from 14th to second to lead Toyota in the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League feature at Fairbury American Legion Speedway, Thursday.

For much of the going, Seavey’s Keith Kunz Motorsports (KKM) teammate Jesse Colwell was the top running Toyota as he went from fifth to third on the first lap, trailing eventual winner Zeb Wise and Thomas Meseraull, with Tyler Courtney, Tanner Carrick and Robert Dalby rounding out the top six.

Colwell was able to hold a spot in the top three for the first six laps, while Carrick briefly climbed up to fourth. Behind them, Seavey was steadily moving up the grid and climbed into the eighth spot by lap 10 of the 30-lap contest – one spot ahead of fellow KKM driver Tanner Thorson, who had started a row ahead of Seavey in the 12th position.

Wise, Courtney, Meseraull, Colwell and Carrick held down the top-five spots from laps 10 through 18 as Seavey started to reel the leaders in as the race crossed the midway point, moving into sixth on lap 18 as a caution flag waved, bunching up the field.

Seavey would take advantage on the restart, moving past Carrick and Colwell into fourth on lap 20, with Carrick slipping back to sixth as Daum would move into the top five. Colwell would regain the position a lap later with the field staying intact up front until lap 25 when Meseraull encountered problems.

Seavey moved past Colwell on lap 27 and then after another caution on lap 28, he would move past Courtney for second with his sights set on Wise, but he would eventually run out of time as Wise would take the checkered flag, with Seavey second, Courtney third, Thorson in fourth and Daum making it three Toyotas in the top-five with a fifth.

Dalby, a west coast sensation making his first start with the Toyota-powered Tucker-Boat Motorsports team earned an impressive sixth, as fellow Toyota drivers Tucker Klaasmeyer, Colwell, Carrick and Cannon McIntosh would round out the top-10.

With his eighth-place showing, Colwell continues to hold down the POWRi point lead, with a 300-point advantage over Daum, who gained 30 points on the night.

The POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League is back in action Friday night in Lincoln, Ill.
