Marcelo Silva gets first ELITE Club win in Italy

Marcelo Silva (#46 Racing Total Chevrolet SS) was the best driver in the ELITE Club race in Italy at the Autodromo di Franciacorta in an extremely close battle for the win Euro NASCAR’s regularity challenge. The Brazilian was the most consistent across the two timed  sessions Thursday and Friday on the 2,5 kilometers of the Italian track. For Silva this was the first win ever in the ELITE Club Division. Advait Deodhar (#33 Mishumotors Chevrolet SS) put up another podium performance after winning in his debut in Valencia and ended up a very close second.

“I am so happy because it is really hard to win like that,” said Silva after his first career ELITE Club win. “I thank my spotter Marconi Abreu. He has done such a good job yesterday and today. This track is really fun and I love it and I really felt the difference between yesterday and today in the car. I was more in control today and felt really comfortable. I am really happy to be part of this family here in Euro NASCAR. I would like to win the championship and I am preparing to be part of the ELITE 2 Division next year. This is the big goal I am trying to reach.”

Andreas Kuchelbacher (#2 Alex Caffi Motorsports Toyota Camry) took third place behind Deodhar. The Austrian driver is on a mission to defend his ELITE Club title and scored some important points. Clemens Sparowitz (#99 Dexwet-DF1 Racing Chevrolet SS) finished fourth at the wheel of the new #99 Chevrolet fielded by the Dexwet-DF1 Racing team. Jennifer Maas (#10 Racing Total Chevrolet SS) rounded out the top 5. After a promising free practice, bad luck hit the German driver, whose engine let go in the last minutes of the third session. Newcomer Bela Szilagyi (#66 Dexwet-DF1 Racing Chevrolet SS) finished seventh right behind of Jerome Francois (#1 Alex Caffi Motorsports Ford Mustang).

The ELITE Club Division will be back in action in September in the context of the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series Semi Finals at the legendary Hockenheimring in Germany.
