MDM Motorsports ARCA Racing Series Preview: Kentucky Speedway

There are only two ARCA Racing Series (ARS) Presented by Menards events left in the 2017 season. MDM Motorsports already has five ARS wins this season and will look to add another victory to the stat book this weekend at Kentucky Speedway located in Sparta, Ky. The Mooresville, N.C., based organization will field three entries in Friday’s General Tire Super Weekend: Crosley Brands 150

Zane Smith will make his second start with MDM Motorsports, driving the No. 8 La Paz Toyota. He won the General Tire Pole Award and finished second in his MDM Motorsports debut at Salem (Ind.) Speedway earlier this month. Sheldon Creed will pilot the No. 28 United Rentals / A.M. Ortega Construction Toyota. Creed has quietly had a great ARS season, scoring seven top-10 finishes in nine starts, including four top-five finishes. Vinnie Miller will return to MDM Motorsports after making his NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) debut last weekend at Chicagoland (Ill.) Speedway. He will drive the No. 41 Master Mfg. Inc., Toyota.

Zane Smith, driver of the La Paz No. 8… Smith is set to make his second start with MDM Motorsports. In his first start with the team, the Huntington Beach, Calif., native won the pole and finished second in the No. 28 KMC Wheels Toyota. In 2016, Smith started sixth in the Crosley 150 at Kentucky Speedway but was involved in an incident, relegating him to a 24th-place finish. This weekend, with support from La Paz Margarita Mix, Smith will look to score his 10th top-10 finish of the season.

Smith on Kentucky: “We had a great start at Salem Speedway. This MDM Motorsports group is on it right now. These Toyota Camry’s are a blast to drive. Kentucky is a cool track, and both ends are different, which makes for some really good racing.”

Sheldon Creed, driver of the United Rentals/A.M. Ortega Construction No. 28… Two-time Speed Energy Stadium Super Truck Champion Sheldon Creed has had a breakout year in the ARS. He’s scored seven top-10 finishes and four top-five finishes in just nine starts, including a second-place finish in the General Tire Grabber 100 at DuQuoin State Fairgrounds. Friday’s Crosley Brands 150 will be Creed’s Kentucky Speedway debut.

Creed on Kentucky: “I am really looking forward to racing at Kentucky this weekend. Chicago didn’t go as planned, but we had speed, and that’s exciting. The MDM Motorsports speedway program has been very strong this year. It is hard to believe this is the second to last ARCA race of the year. Hopefully we can close out the season strong.”

Vinnie Miller, driver of the Master Mfg. Inc., No. 41… Miller returns to the ARS this weekend driving the No. 41 Master Mfg. Inc., Toyota in the Crosley Brands 150 at Kentucky Speedway. He made his NXS debut last weekend at Chicagoland Speedway, scoring a solid 29th-place finish. Miller has scored four top-10s in five ARS starts this season. He has also scored two top-10 finishes and one top-five finish in six NASCAR K&N Pro Series East starts.

Miller on Kentucky: “I am excited to get back in a MDM Motorsports car this weekend at Kentucky Speedway. I have really enjoyed the speedway races this year and think we have a great shot at getting a win this weekend. This will be my first start at Kentucky, and from the film that I’ve watched and the studying that I’ve done it looks like a very cool race track with lots of room to race. I’m sure I’ll learn a lot at the open test. Friday’s race will be a great learning experience and a lot of fun.”

Friday’s Crosley Brands 150 will be live on FS1. The green flag is scheduled to wave at 8:00 p.m., ET.
