MDM Motorsports ARCA Racing Series Preview: Chicagoland Speedway

MDM Motorsports is pleased to welcome back NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) star Brandon Jones and two-time Speed Energy Stadium Super Trucks Champion Sheldon Creed for Thursday’s Scott 150 at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Ill.

Jones will pilot the Australian Gold No. 8 Chevrolet, while Creed will pilot the United Rentals / A.M. Ortega No. 28 Toyota. The Scott 150 will feature one of the strongest fields in recent ARCA Racing Series (ARS) history with several different NASCAR drivers using the 150-mile race to prepare for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and NXS events later in the weekend.

Brandon Jones, driver of the Australian Gold No. 8… Jones returns to MDM Motorsports for the running of the Scott 150, looking to gain track time headed into the last NXS race before the playoffs at Chicagoland Speedway this weekend. Jones scored an ARS victory with MDM Motorsports earlier this season when he won the Corrigan Oil 200 at Michigan International Speedway located in Brooklyn, Mich., on June 16.

Jones on Chicagoland: “This weekend’s race at Chicagoland Speedway is a really big event for us on the XFINITY Series side. It’s our last race of the regular season, therefore our last race before the NASCAR Playoffs begin. I’ve been doing a lot to prepare for it, but one of the most important pieces of my preparation is going to be the ARCA race on Thursday night. Having that extra time behind the wheel is really important, but the extra boost of confidence that we’re able to get from a strong run in the ARCA Racing Series is invaluable. The guys at MDM Motorsports have built us great cars all season long, which we’ve proven with two pole awards and our most recent win in Michigan. I’m confident that we’ll have another great run on Thursday night and hope that we’re able to make it back to Victory Lane.”

Sheldon Creed, driver of the United Rentals/A.M. Ortega No. 28… Creed, like Jones, also returns to MDM Motorsports this weekend. The 19-year-old Alpine, Calif., native has scored four top-five finishes and seven top-10 finishes in eight ARS starts this season. He will look to continue his fantastic 2017 season this weekend in his first trip to the Chicagoland Speedway.

Creed on Chicagoland: “It’s been a really solid year so far. I’ve enjoyed racing these ARCA events. Each time I get to race one, I learn so much. Chicago is a track I’ve never ran before. It’ll definitely be one of the faster tracks I’ve ever been to. I know that my MDM Motorsports guys will bring a great Toyota to the track this weekend, and we’ll be very competitive.”

The ARS Scott 150 at Chicagoland Speedway is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET live on FS1. For more information about MDM Motorsports, please visit www.MDMMotorsports.com.
