Cole Anderson Impressive in ARCA Debut with Mason Mitchell Motorsports; Earns Top-10 Finish

Cole Anderson positioned himself for a top-five finish to the checkered flag in the Shore Lunch 250 at the Elko Speedway Saturday evening. Unfortunately, an incident on the final lap in turn four collected Anderson and resulted in a 10th place finish in his Series debut.

“It’s a bummer to have our debut end up a victim and a wrecked car on the final lap,” a dejected Anderson stated. “It’s unfortunate to have our good run ruined because of one driver wanting to finish one spot higher in the running order.”

“I can’t thank Timberwolf Plastics / Johnson Jet-Line and Mason Mitchell Motorsports enough for this opportunity. We got better all day long improved on every run. The pit-crew gained us spots on both stops during the race. It was a total team effort. It was great to give my friends, family and fans a lot to cheer for during the race.”

Anderson qualified the No. 78 7th on the grid for the sixth race of the 2017 season. When the green flag waved Cole positioned himself in the 7th spot for the opening 60 laps. After working into a groove Anderson cracked the top-five on lap 61 working his way by the 23 and 55 for position. The 19-year-old worked his way into the 4th position before making his first pit-stop of the evening at lap 72 for two General Tires.

Anderson spent the next 100 laps racing inside of the top-five. He would bring the No. 78 down pit-road during the evenings 6th caution at lap 193.

The Northfield, Minnesota native positioned himself nicely for a top-five finish until two cars ahead of him racing for position on the final lap made contact coming off of turn four. The incident started a big mess on the frontstretch, Anderson would receive heavy damage to the front of the No. 78 and limp across the finish to a 10th place finish
