Jim Sauter, Jr. Excited About This Sunday’s Joe Shear Classic

A couple of weeks ago, Jim Sauter, Jr. ran the quickest qualifying lap before piloting his Marion Cole owned #20 in “The Thaw” at Golden Sands Speedway. Although Sauter ran well, he got caught up in an incident that ended his day and hopes of victory. Still carrying the momentum from that weekend, Sauter and his hard working team are ready and set to conquer Madison International Speedway (WI) in the “Joe Shear Classic 200” on Sunday, May 7.

The Joe Shear Classic is the first event of the season for the ARCA Midwest Tour, presented by Power Equipment. The event is held to memorialize the late Joe Shear. Shear, who was a racer’s racer, dominated the Midwest circuit during his 27 years of competing. With over 330 career starts, Shear earned 51 victories and claimed the ARTGO Challenge Series title twice.

There’s no doubt that the 200 lap event will be exciting for sure, plus it will feature live pit stops. Drivers will be on hand prior to the show for an autograph session following qualifying at 12:45 PM. The main event is slated to kick off at 2 PM and adult admission for the big show is just $25. Fans can visit misracing.com for more information and directions to the speedway.

“I’m really excited to get back to Madison”, said Sauter when talking about making his second start of the season.

“We had a really good piece for Golden Sands and after a lot of hard work and some adjustments, we’ll definitely have something to compete with in the Joe Shear Classic.”
