Kaz Grala Set for ARCA Debut with Mason Mitchell Motorsports At Daytona International Speedway

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Rookie of The Year contender Kaz Grala will join Mason Mitchell Motorsports (MMM) for the ARCA season opener at Daytona International Speedway (MMM).

It will mark the 18-year-old’s ARCA debut as well as his superspeedway debut.

“Superspeedway racing is a very different style of racing from anything I’ve ever done,” Grala explained. “The biggest oval I’ve raced on so far in my career is 1.25 miles, so Daytona will be twice as big as anything I’ve done yet. I’m running in the No. 33 Silverado for GMS Racing full-time this year in the Truck Series, so I really am looking to get the “feel” of plate racing in the ARCA car. The most important thing here is aero, and it takes seat time and experience to understand that feel. The ARCA race is the perfect time for me to gain this experience.”

“The funny thing is I’ve raced at Daytona for years now, just never the full oval! I’ve raced the road course in the Rolex 24, the short track in a Late Model and K&N car, and even tested an ARCA car on the big track. Getting to actually race on the superspeedway here at Daytona is a dream come true. Every little kid watches Daytona and wishes that they could be a race car driver because of this race. Getting to race at the place that begins those aspirations is going to be surreal.”

MMM will field three entries for the 54th running of the Lucas Oil 200 Driven by General Tire on February 18th. This marks the second time that MMM has fielded three entries in the ARCA Racing Series.

“Kaz has had a great amount of success in K&N and in the Trucks Series,” Owner Mason Mitchell stated. “He brings a ton of experience to the table with different backgrounds in racing. We look forward to providing him a car needed to compete for the win at Daytona.”

Grala has a rich background in racing. In his first race at historic Hickory Motor Speedway, Kaz won the 2013 UARA 150 and became the youngest winner in series history. In three seasons racing in the K&N Pro Series East, Grala earned 12 top-five finishes and 24 top-tens. In 2016, Grala made nine Camping World Truck starts for GMS Racing earning a best finish of seventh at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Grala will race the No. 33 Chevrolet full-time in 2017 for GMS.
