Bill McAnally Racing, David Gilliland Racing Announce Alliance

Bill McAnally Racing and David Gilliland Racing have developed an alliance to work together as they compete in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series.

The two teams say they will benefit from the association and point out the many similarities they share.

A major bond between them is their approach in using the NASCAR K&N Pro Series to develop young drivers in racing with Toyota Racing Development.

BMR recently announced that David Gilliland’s son, Todd – who won the K&N West championship as a rookie in 2016 – would remain with the team in 2017 to race the full schedules in the East and West divisions of the series. While BMR’s operation is based out of its facility in Roseville, California; a significant part of their effort on the East Coast will come from DGR’s shop in Mooresville, North Carolina.

Chase Purdy will also drive for DGR, as he contends for the rookie title in the K&N East. In addition, DGR will continue to field super late models for various drivers, including Purdy.

“We see this alliance as a beneficial move for both teams, as we share a lot of interests,” said BMR President Bill McAnally. “We really enjoyed working with David and his personnel this past season and were impressed by DGR’s super late model program.

“Building this alliance will provide us a pathway to the East and develop a complete package for competing in the K&N Pro Series,” McAnally said.

David Gilliland expressed a similar outlook.

“After working with Bill and the whole BMR team this year, I knew there was a tremendous value in an alliance as DGR takes the next step into the NASCAR K&N Pro Series,” Gilliland said. “Bill’s success in the series is second to none. I think the 2017 season will be a great one, both in the East and West, and I think our alliance will help in our continued goal to be the very best we can.”

BMR previously competed on a full-time basis in the K&N East in 2014 and 2015 – winning races while developing drivers Cole Custer, Nick Drake, and Patrick Staropoli.

“We look forward to continued success in the K&N East and winning more races in our alliance with DGR,” McAnally said. “We’re working hard to prepare for another great season.”

McAnally and Gilliland both grew up in California and competed in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West. McAnally hung up his helmet in 1998 to focus on being a car owner and developing a top contending team. Gilliland relocated to North Carolina and moved up the ranks in NASCAR to its premier level, where he raced nationally for 10 years. In 2016, he turned his attention to working with his son.

BMR has won a record seven championships in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West in its 22 seasons of running the full series schedule.
