McReynolds Scores Runner-up Finish at Greenville-Pickens Speedway in K&N Pro Series East Race

Brandon McReynolds made his second start of the 2016 K&N Pro Series East season for Tommy Baldwin Racing on Monday, and methodically drove his Rocky Ridge Custom Trucks Chevrolet to a second-place finish at the challenging Greenville-Pickens Speedway.

Starting 7th on the grid, McReynolds ran hard at the green through the halfway mark of the Kevin Whittaker Chevrolet 140 – gauging his tire wear and setting up for the second half of the race.

Restarting the event 5th at the drop of the green, McReynolds with battled with Justin Haley and Ronnie Bassett, Jr. and grabbed both positions early on. He would then set his sights on leader, Kyle Benjamin.

With 15 laps remaining, McReynolds kept Benjamin in his sights but was unable to catch the eventual winner.

“We had such a great car,” said McReynolds, “Tommy (Baldwin) and the (rest of the team) couldn’t have done any better for me. I felt like we managed our tires well and tried to set up for the end. We just simply ran out of laps.”

For much of the event, the TBR Chevrolet ran laps equal to or better than the race winner.

“It says a lot about our guys,” said Baldwin, “they worked really hard so that we could give Brandon the best possible resources to win. But we’ll take a second-place and be proud of what we accomplished.
