Super Cup Stock Car Series, All Weekly Divisions set for Saturday at Lonesome Pine Raceway

The biggest event so far this season is set for this Saturday, Aug. 6 at Lonesome Pine Raceway.

Morgan-McClure Chevrolet and Coeburn Home Center Night at The Pine will feature eight races and nearly 250 laps of green flag racing.

Headlining the night of racing action is the Super Cup Stock Car Series (SCSCS). The series last visited the high banks of “The Pine” in August of 2010.

So far this season, the full-bodied stock car touring series has made three stops, for a total of four races.

Heading into the fifth race of the SCSCS’ season, Petersburg, West Virginia’s Brent Nelson leads the point standings with one win. Harvey Harrison holds eight points behind in second place, while Jeff Zillweger, Bill Ashton and Kevin Kromer round out the top five.

“We are so excited to have the Super Cup Stock Car Series back at LPR,” said Karen Tunnell, general manager of Lonesome Pine Raceway. “They are going to put on a great show, and this is going to be a can’t miss event!”

Saturday’s Super Cup Stock Car Series race will air at a later date on MAVTV.

Also on tap for Saturday are twin 35-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model Stock Car races. Modified Street, Pure 4, Mod 4, Pure Street and Bandeleros divisions are also set for action.

Grandstand gates open at 4 p.m. on Saturday, qualifying is at 6 p.m. and racing gets underway at 7 p.m. Adult admission is $10, with children 12-and-under admitted free.
