Early Brake Issue Hinders Gus Dean and Mason Mitchell Motorsports at Pocono

Gus Dean, driver of the No. 98 GREE Cooling Products, BOSCH Chevrolet for Mason Mitchell Motorsports (MMM) battled back to a 15th place finish after suffering early brake problems. Dean and the No. 98 team experienced brake problems during their first pit-stop and lost two laps in repairs.

“This was a tough race overall,” Dean added. “First and foremost I am thinking and praying for our pit-crew guys Jon House and Pedro Martinez that were involved in the incident on pit-road. I want to wish them a speedy recovery.”

“After we made the repairs to the car we had a very fast car. By the end of the race our times were as good as the top three.”

“I can’t thank everyone from GREE, BOSCH and MMM for the opportunity. Without them I wouldn’t be here. I know these experiences this past weekend will make us better and closer as a team. I am looking forward to getting behind the wheel again.”

Earlier in the day Dean qualified the No. 98 11th on the grid for the 60 lap event.  The Bluffton, South Carolina native wasted no time racing into the top-ten after passing by Bobby Gerhart and Sarah Cornett Ching on lap six.

On lap 13 Dean came down pit-road and suffered brake issues that forced the No. 98 team to lose two laps in repairs.

The No. 98 returned to the race in 25th position. Dean methodically picked up 10 positions to solidify a top-15 finish in his first race at the Pocono Raceway.
