Mason Mitchell Ready to Create Fireworks in Front of Hometown Crowd at the Iowa Speedway

Last year, hometown driver Mason Mitchell scored the biggest win of his ARCA career at the Iowa Speedway in a thrilling last lap pass to secure the win in front of family and friends. This weekend he looks to become the first driver to win back-to-back ARCA races at the Iowa Speedway.

“I can’t express how much I am looking forward to getting back behind the wheel,” an excited Mitchell stated. “I can’t think of a better track on the ARCA schedule to make my first start of the 2016 season.”

“Last year’s race was grueling; not only did we have to battle the competition but we had to battle the heat. I can’t thank Karl Chevrolet for their support and allowing me to represent their company again in 2016. We have a great relationship on and off the track. Hopefully we can continue our winning streak with them being on the car Saturday night.”

This weekend marks his first start of the 2016 season. Mitchell will race three times in 2016 beginning this weekend at the Iowa Speedway, then Chicagoland in September and then closing out the season at the Kansas Speedway. Mitchell has won both races with Karl Chevrolet on the hood of his No. 78 Chevrolet (Iowa and Kansas). The West Des Moines, Iowa native has won two of his last three ARCA starts.

The 22-year-old has three prior starts at the 7/8-mile track earning one win, one top-five and three top-ten finishes. In fact, Mitchell made his ARCA debut in 2012 at Iowa where he started ninth and finished a respectable tenth.

Chassis information: Mitchell will pilot chassis No. 593 out of the MMM stable. This marks the chassis’ first start of the 2016 season. The car raced last in the season finale at Kansas where John Wes Townley raced to a fifth place finish. The car has eight starts earning one win (Chicagoland), five top-five finishes and six top-ten finishes.
