Christian Eckes Returns to ARCA Action at Madison Int’l Speedway

Fifteen year-old Christian Eckes will make his second career ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards start this weekend in the Montgomery Ward Father’s Day 200 at Madison International Speedway on Sunday, June 19.

In his series debut earlier this season with Venturini Motorsports, Eckes turned in an impressive outing scoring an eighth place finish at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville.

Eckes, a New York native, will make his second of four series starts driving the No.15 New York Bus Sales Toyota Camry at Madison’s half mile track. Eckes will also compete with Venturini Motorsports in July at Iowa Speedway and Lucas Oil Raceway.

Unnerved by his rookie status, Eckes confident in team and personal ability to turn-in strong showing at Madison. “I’m feeling a lot more confident going into this race than my series debut, I definitely won’t have the first race jitters,” said Eckes. “There are so many unknowns when you enter a new series with a new team and new type of car. I learned a lot at Nashville and will bring all that with me when I return to the track this weekend. The Venturini Motorsports team has a great track record, not just in the series but at Madison too – I’m liking our chances.”

Saturday’s ARCA practice session will mark the first time Eckes has been on track at Madison. Like every good student, he’s preparing for his test.

“Anytime you go to a new race track you need to do your homework,” added Eckes. “In this case I’ve watched a lot of film of previous Madison races. I’ve probably watched the 2013 race three or four time already. Benjamin (Kyle) won that race with the Venturini’s. I think I’ve picked up a few things watching that race. I’m definitely excited to get there and see what we can do.”
