Ryan Reed finishes 12th in ARCA Racing Series Event at Pocono

Ryan Reed finished 12th on Friday evening in the No. 38 Lilly Diabetes Lira Motorsports Ford Fusion in the ARCA Racing Series season event at Pocono Raceway.

“We just couldn’t find the speed we needed to compete for a win today, but I’m proud of the improvements we made since testing on Tuesday. As always, I’m grateful for the opportunity to get more time on track and can’t thank Jack Roush and Carlos Lira enough for allowing me to pilot this No. 38 Lilly Diabetes Ford.”

Reed started the 80-lap event from the 19th position on Friday after qualifying was canceled due to weather earlier in the day. The race officially began under caution as mist was in the area, with the race getting to full speed on Lap 2.

Reed had raced his way up to the 13th position by the first caution on Lap 4. Crew chief Teddy Brown and spotter Mike Herman Jr. instructed their driver to save fuel. As other cars pitted for fuel, Reed was able to restart 11th on Lap 8.

By Lap 13, Reed had broken into the top 10 and reported he was tight center-off. Nearly 10 laps later, the team brought Reed down pit road under caution for the first pit stop of the day. Brown called for four fresh tires, fuel, a track bar adjustment and a spring rubber in the right-rear of the car. Reed restarted eighth on Lap 30.

Reed was up to the sixth position by the time the next caution flew on Lap 31. He maintained that position and reported that he needed front turn by the halfway point in the race.

The team made their second pit stop of the day under green on Lap 64 for a track bar adjustment, a spring rubber and four fresh tires. After the stops cycled through, Reed raced his way up to 14th. Despite making improvements to the car, Reed didn’t have enough time to make up more ground, leaving him 12th when the checkered flag flew.
