William Byron, who last week earned his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) victory, announced plans today to rejoin Venturini Motorsports at next month’s ARCA Racing Series’ General Tire #AnyWhereIsPossible 200 at Pocono Raceway on June 3.
Driving his familiar Liberty University Toyota, Byron will make his fourth ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards career start with Venturini Motorsports and his first attempt at Pocono’s ‘Tricky Triangle’.
Byron, who’ll graduate from Charlotte County Day High School one week prior to his Pocono debut, intends to use his track experience to prepare for his NASCAR Truck (Pocono Mountains 150) start in July.
“I’m looking forward to getting back on track in the ARCA Series,” said Byron. “Anytime I can get extra seat time to help familiarize myself with a track it’s obviously going to help – especially when I return to Pocono with the truck team. I’ve studied a lot of races and watched a ton of video but nothing will compare to the real deal.”
Driving full-time for Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM) in the NASCAR Truck Series, Byron currently occupies the top-spot in the series’ Sunoco Rookie of the Year standings while holding down the seventh position in the NCWTS championship point standings.
Jeff McClure, winning crew chief for Christopher Bell’s recent ARCA victory, will be back at the controls for Byron at Pocono.
Byron, who has two runner up finishes in three ARCA series starts, made his series debut in 2015 at Lucas Oil Raceway where he led a race high 120-laps before settling for a second-place finish. Byron also finished second in his first ever superspeedway event at Daytona earlier this year in ARCA’s 2016 season opener.
“The Venturini guys bring race-winning Toyotas week after week. We’ve had a shot at the checkered flag every time out so far. I’m hoping that trend continues,” added Byron.
