First win for Raphael Lessard in North Carolina

Raphael Lessard, 14, has just win his first life test at the Hickory Soup Kitchen Race to End Hunger 250, North Carolina. It has not been a foregone conclusion for the young race of Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce, who had to wait until halfway before tackling leaders AJ Frank and Christian Eckes.

After starting from the 9th position, Lessard waltzed between the 10th, 9th, 8th and 7th place, leading battles with all the drivers in the Top 10. This is Steve Wallace, NASCAR driver Xfinity , Sprint Cup and Camping World Truck Series, which gave a hard time to young Quebecers. After some shoving on the track, Lessard, driving his Toyota Camry # 99 FRL Express / Team Coach Imaging / Toyota / JBLAudio team David Gilliland Racing , managed to free himself from Wallace.

At the 5 th stimulus, Raphael had a great start, allowing him to distance himself from Steve Wallace and approach the ringleaders Frank and Eckes. With 25 laps to go, caught Lessard Christian Eckes, who had led the entire race. It was at that moment that Raphael showed what he was capable of overcoming and distancing car # 15 of Eckes. Even commentators of the series have said a few laps later that it was useless for Eckes, highlighting the talent of the young Lessard and complimenting throughout the race, calling him a “prodigal Verita ble”.

“At the start I lost positions because self standing less the track, but it was good when raises. Throughout the race, the car was getting better and better. I started to gain positions, the car is improving all the towers. When I arrived behind the leader, I saw that her car was deteriorating, and that mine was fine, so I thought, well well I think I’ll pass! Winning is a dream come true, I was hoping to go there no yellow flag when I took the first position, and there were none, it was perfect! I want to thank the whole team for the excellent Toyota Camry. Thank you to FRL Express, Imaging Team Coach, Toyota, JBL Audio. Thank you to my parents and Robert Desrosiers. “Raphael said Lessard, more excited than ever.
