Roman Mavlanov Is The First Russian Driver To Join NWES

On April 23, the Circuit De La Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo of Valencia, Spain will host the historical debut of the first ever Russian driver to join the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series: Roman Mavlanov.  The official European NASCAR Series is attracting more and more drivers from all over the world, all entering the championship with the goal of racing in NASCAR in the US and Mavlanov, who will drive the #15 Dexwet Renauer Team Ford Mustang, makes no exception.

The  22-year old Moscow-native forged his talent in karting, where he performed well in international competitions before making his move into single seaters. He raced in Formula Renault 2.0 between 2011 and 2013, while in 2014 he won the International GT Open and performed well in Formula Renault 3.5. He moved to the Lamborghini Super Trofeo in 2015, finishing the season in third place, and is eager to start his NASCAR career in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series.

“The ultimate goal for me is to race in NASCAR in the United States and the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series is the ideal starting point for my project,” said Mavlanov. “I want to battle for a podium position in Valencia and I am confident that NASCAR’s popularity in Russia will grow exponentially.”

“We are very happy to welcome Roman as the first ever Russian driver racing Euro NASCAR,” said Jerome Galpin, President CEO of the NWES. “He is a young and talented driver, with a very good racing experience. Our mission is to help young drivers coming from all over the world to start their NASCAR career and develop at affordable costs.”

Mavlanov’s determination to succeed will be put to the test from Friday, April 22, when the green flag will drop on the first free practice session of the 2016 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series Season and the Valencia NASCAR Fest will begin. Race fans will be able to follow the action live on Fanschoice.tv, on the NASCAR Home Tracks Race Central Live Page and on the series’ social network profiles on Facebook and Twitter.
