28 Teams and Drivers Already Entered for NASCAR K&N Mobile 150

With more than two weeks before the drop of the green flag of the Inaugural NASCAR K & N Mobile 150 on March 12th, 28 teams and drivers have already filed an entry for NASCARs return to Mobile.
 
“In the four years we’ve been putting on this spring race we have never had this many cars registered this far away from race weekend,” offered race promoter Tommy Praytor. “Our grandstands are filling up quickly and we expect to announce some sold out areas before the weekend.”

The Drivers and Owners already entered are a veritable who’s who of up and coming racers teamed with big time owners like former Music Executive Max Siegel, Bill France’s grandson Ben Kennedy, NASCAR Owner Harry Scott, Jr. and driver Justin Marks. Fans on the Gulf cost will recognize Kyle Benjamin, Harrison Burton, Sarah Cornett-Ching and Spencer Davis who have turned laps at Mobile and Pensacola. We’ve put together a short biography for each driver entered so far.

One of two female Canadians in the field, Ching is coming off a career best season in the ARCA Series. Began her racing career at the age of 12 and was the 2011 ARCA OK Tire Series Rookie of the Year. After a full season of ARCA competition Ching is devoting 2016 to a full slate in the NASCAR K & N Series. Ching is one of the few drivers in the field to have experience at Mobile Internationals Speedway

Finished 23rd in final NASCAR Whelen All-American Series standings with four wins, 14 top 5s and 21 top 10s in 28 starts competing at Motor Mile Speedway, Southern National Motorsports Park, Myrtle Beach Speedway and Kingsport Speedway. Grala’s car owner, Ben Kennedy is the son of Lesa France Kennedy and Dr. Bruce Kennedy, grandson of Bill France, Jr. and great-grandson of Bill France, Sr., the founder of NASCAR.

Bassett made his NASCAR K&N Pro Series East debut at Greenville Pickens Speedway in September 2013. Bassett became youngest Bandolero national champion at the age of 10. Won 32 races in 2006 on way to Bandolero State Title. Bassett was the odd man out finishing 3rd after being declared the winner at the Jet Tools 150 at New Smyrna in the K&N East Pro-Series.

Career in motorsports began in 2000 with quad motorcross racing. Racing career began in 2009 in the modified series at Sandusky Speedway and select races at Lorian County Speedway. In 2010, she became the youngest female to race in a NASCAR-sanctioned development series event. That same year, she also made her K&N East debut and finished 20th at Lee USA Speedway. Despite only being 22, she has 15 years in racing.

Captured his first-ever win in a Late Model when he scored the victory in the JEG/CRA All-Stars Tour Season Opener. He most recently started the JJ Haley Foundation, a non-profit that works on providing race fans in wheelchairs the opportunity to come out and experience Trans-Am Series races. He became the youngest ARCA Racing Series pole sitter on June 21, 2014 at the Akona 250 held at Elko Speedway. Haley finished 6th in points in the 2015 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East.

Born in Mexico City, Mexico, Mateos competed in the NASCAR Mexico Series from 2011-2015. He was the series’ runner-up in 2014 and was crowned the NASCAR Mexico Series champion in 2015.  He has also competed in the NASCAR XFINITY Series and was a member of the 2015-2016 NASCAR Next Class.

Earned the 2013 Rookie of the Year in the Super Cup Stock Racing Series, registering five top-tens and three top-five finishes in his first season. Made his NASCAR K&N East series debut in 2015.

The Las Vegas native was the 2015 Sunoco Rookie of the Year in the K & N West Series and was the runner up in the Championship standings. He won his first K & N West race at Tuscon Speedway. Finished 6th in the opener at New Smyrna Speedway.

Celaya started his racing career in the desert as the 2014 Baja 250 Class 1600 Buggies champion. Finished fourth in the 2014 Baja 1000 Class 1600 Buggies. Finished second in the 2014 Buggy championship. Competed in ARCA’s in 2014 on his way to the NASCAR K & N East Series in 2015. Crew chief is former MIS Champion and NASCAR Camping world Truck Series competitor Rick Crawford.

Earned his first pole in the Late Model Series at the age of 11 and won his first Pro-Late Model race at the age of 12. Then went on to earn his first Super Late Model race at the age of 14 . Burton is no stranger to the Gulf coast having raced at Mobile in Pensacola in a Late Model. Burton is the son of Jeff Burton, a former NASCAR Spring Cup driver and current NASCAR analyst for NBC.

Fourth-generation competitor as father Bobby, grandfather Bud and great grandfather Claude all have been involved in racing as a driver, crew member or car owner. In 2015, won Sunoco Rookie of the Year honors and was also voted Most Popular Driver in his first year of competition in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.

In Gracin’s first K&N West event he out qualified all rookies and averaged a top 6.5 finish between both events.

Jesse’s Dad, Chad Little, drove the #97 John Deere car for Roush Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series and is the Managing Director of Technical Inspection and Officiating for NASCAR.  Jesse has had 5 poles, 10 front row starts, and 16 Top 5 finishes. In 2015 Jesse made his transition into K&N Pro Series with his debut in Dover.

As a rookie, he held the PASS Super Late Model National points lead throughout the season. Dippel finished 8th at the 2016 K&N Pro Series East season opener at New Smyrna.

Began driving full size race cars at just 14 years old. Has compiled 19 wins in various Go-Kart and Quarter Midget classes. Earned his first K&N East win at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway. He is a member of the 2015-2016 NASCAR next class. Benjamin is well known on the Gulf Coast having won first late model race at Mobile International Speedway. He has also competed in Mobile in the ARCA Mobile 200. Benjamin finished 4th in the Pro Series East opener at New Smyrna and 9th in points for the 2015 K&N Pro Series East season.

Made his K&N debut at New Hampshire Motor Speedway at the age of 14. Prior to competing in the K&N Series, he won the 2011 World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway and the 2014 Pro Late Model race at New Smyrna’s Speedweeks. Davis finished runner up in the Pro Series East opener at New Smyrna.

Competed in five NASCAR K&N Pro Series West events in 2014 and earned four top-10 finishes. Earned his best K&N West finish, seventh, at Stateline on July 12. He raced in two ARCA races in 2015 and competed in the ARCA season opener at Daytona International Speedway. Avila is a member of the NASCAR drive for diversity program.

Dillon Bassett finished sixth in his NASCAR K&N Pro Series East debut at New Smyrna Speedway. Bassett finished 13th in the series standings last season with one win, two top fives and four top 10s. Bassett is the younger brother of Ronnie.

Wilson began his racing career at age 8 competing in the INEX sanctioned Bandoleros.  Wilson’s rookie year in Legends Young Lions produced  2 Wins – 9 Top 5s – 14 Top 10s before moving on to the NASCAR K&N East Pro Series.
