Carter Stokes races to share hope during the final night of the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing

After competing with three different drivers across the 10 days of competition at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway for the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing, the Racecar Solutions team will cap off the series with Carter Stokes competing in the No. 33 Chevrolet in tonight’s pro late model finale.

 

Stokes, a native of Daytona Beach, Fla., has competed in three other nights of racing at New Smyrna Speedway, recording three top-15 finishes and a runner-up finish on Wednesday night. A development driver for Richard Childress Racing, Stokes has worked closely with NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion Mike Skinner and his Racecar Solutions team while transitioning from dirt racing to asphalt racing.

 

“Tonight’s a pretty special night,” said Skinner, 1995 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion  and co-owner of Racecar Solutions. “We’re happy to have Carter Stokes back in our car; he’s a really great kid and a heck of a racecar driver. We’re in a fortunate position where we have the help of my dear friend Mike Swaim and his company Management Resource Systems. They allow us to not only get out there and race, but they’re also huge supporters of Hope For The Warriors and allow us to promote that organization and include their logo on our racecars.”

 

Hope For The Warriors is a national nonprofit that assists post-9/11 service members, veterans and military families. The organization is actively engaged within the motorsports community through its Drive For Hope program, which brings transitioning service members to racetracks across the country. Engaging them in a unique social setting, the experience looks to help them while they reintegrate into civilian life with giving them an opportunity to learn about perspective careers, make networking connections and realize different ways their skills can be applied in the civilian sector.

 

Throughout the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing series, Racecar Solutions also entered cars for NASCAR Whelen Euro driver Gianmarco Ercoli and Skinner. Ercoli, a 20-year-old from Rome, Italy, raced on opening night and recorded an 11th-place result. Meanwhile, Skinner took on Thursday’s 100-lap pro late model feature. After setting the fast time during qualifying, Skinner started the race from the sixth position following an inversion and went on to finish third.
