Bass Pro Shops to Sponsor Ty Dillon in ARCA Racing Series Season Finale

The nation’s No. 1 outdoor retail leader, Bass Pro Shops, will join Richard Childress Racing in celebrating Ty Dillon’s first career championship by sponsoring the No. 41 Chevrolet at Toledo Speedway this weekend.

When Dillon, 19, takes the green flag in Sunday’s Federated Car Care 200, he will officially clinch the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards championship. The historic moment will be captured live on SPEED beginning at 2 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time on Sunday, October 16.

“We are proud to partner with Richard Childress Racing in sponsoring Ty Dillon as he races for the ARCA Series Championship,” said Bass Pro Shops founder Johnny Morris. “Ty is an up and coming young driver like his brother Austin. I know our friend and fellow outdoorsman Richard Childress is proud of both his grandsons…and so are we!”

A long-time motorsports supporter, Bass Pro Shops began its association with Richard Childress Racing in 1998 with associate sponsorship of the No. 3 GM Goodwrench Chevrolet made famous by seven-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Dale Earnhardt.

The outdoor retailer with more than 55 stores throughout the United States currently sponsors Ty Dillon’s older brother, Austin, and the No. 3 Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

“It’s great to have Bass Pro Shops on Ty’s No. 41 Chevrolet for the final race of the season,” said Richard Childress, president and CEO of Richard Childress Racing. “Since Johnny Morris and Bass Pro Shops sponsors Ty’s brother Austin’s No. 3 Chevrolet Silverado in the Camping World Truck Series, I thought it would be fitting to have them on Ty’s car for the final race of the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season. Johnny is a close personal friend and has done so much for our family that we wanted to thank him.”

In addition to Bass Pro Shops’ support, Toledo, Ohio-based Hemelgarn Enterprises will continue its partnership with the No. 41 team this weekend. Hemelgarn’s association with RCR began with the May 2011 ARCA Racing Series race at Toledo Speedway and has included several events this season.

Heading into ARCA Championship Weekend at Toledo Speedway, Ty Dillon holds a 335-point lead in the ARCA driver’s point standings and needs only to start Sunday’s 200-lap race in order to clinch his career-first championship in his rookie year of ARCA competition.

En route to the 2011 championship, Dillon has earned seven wins, seven pole awards, 12 top-five and 15 top-10 finishes in 18 races.

“It’s a huge honor to capture my first championship with the support of Bass Pro Shops and Hemelgarn Enterprises,” said Dillon. “Johnny Morris and everyone at Bass Pro Shops have been supportive of my career from the beginning. Ron Hemelgarn has been behind us for much of the 2011 season and he is based locally in Toledo. I hope I can end the season with a win for them at ARCA’s hometown track.”
