Lace up and run the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg race track on March 11

Lace up race fans, registration for the 2016 Firestone Grand Prix 5K presented by Modern Business Associates (MBA) is now open. The annual night run takes place Friday, March 11 at 6:30 p.m., providing participants with the unique opportunity to join a race of their own by running the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg street course at night.

“A lot of race car drivers are runners and so it’s fitting that we hold a 5K as part of the festivities surrounding the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg,” said Kim Green, Owner, Chairman and CEO, Green Savoree Racing Promotions, organizers of the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. “This is a great chance to check out our race track in a different kind of way, all while supporting  compassionate, state-of-the-art care for infants, children and teens with some of the most challenging medical problems.”

For a second consecutive year, the 5K run will benefit All Children’s Hospital, which provides expert pediatric care for children and families all across the state of Florida and beyond.

“As a human resources outsourcing firm, MBA understands the importance of promoting a strong, healthy community through the sponsorship of events like the Firestone Grand Prix 5K, to benefit All Children’s Hospital,” said Chris McDonald, President, MBA. “MBA is proud to continue to be a part of this signature event to support the excellent standard of care All Children’s Hospital provides to the residents of Tampa Bay.”

“All Children’s Hospital Johns Hopkins Medicine is thrilled to be part of the high-speed action of the Firestone Grand Prix 5K in 2016,” said Jenine Rabin, Executive Vice President, All Children’s Hospital Foundation. “Because of the many walkers, runners and sponsors who participate in the 5K, our patients have hope. We are fortunate to have such a strong community partnership with the Firestone Grand Prix and are thankful for our involvement and the support we receive.”

Participants will begin and end the run on Bayshore Drive next to North Straub Park. Runners will run South on Bayshore Drive until they reach the Firestone Grand Prix race track at Turn 9. From there, runners will turn right do a lap around the track in reverse track direction, exiting at Turn 9 to get back on Bayshore Drive going North toward the finish line.

Following the run, an award ceremony and celebration will take place at the start/finish near South Straub Park, featuring movies on the lawn, food trucks, music and family entertainment.
