Full Season return for Panoz DeltaWing Racing - Speedway Digest

Katherine Legge and Andy Meyrick return for a third year to compete for Panoz DeltaWing Racing in the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship. They are joined by Georgia native Sean Rayhall who proved his driving prowess behind the wheel of the coupe at the recent IMSA Daytona Test.

“I believe this will be a standout season for Panoz DeltaWing Racing,” stated Legge. “The team have worked so hard and I think we will be able to show what we are capable of. We are all focused on building from the impressive speed we showed at the November Daytona test.”

“I’m extremely excited to sign on with Panoz DeltaWing Racing for the year,” added Rayhall. “The team were excellent when I tested with them back in November and I think it will be a great fit! I’m very grateful for the opportunity Dr Panoz has given me.”

Legge and Rayhall will campaign the full season with Meyrick joining for the endurance events.

“Really looking forward to being back in the DeltaWing next year,” Meyrick stated. “I love racing in America and based on the car we had at the November test I’m hopeful this season we will be competitive and back on the podium. I would love to see this happen not just for myself but for Dr Panoz and the team as they all work so hard and deserve a better year.”

The 2016 season looks set to be an exciting one for Panoz DeltaWing Racing. With the new name comes an impressive new livery reminiscent of the legendary Panoz ‘Spirit of America’ LMP1 Roadster S 14 years ago which continues to be a fan favorite to this day. This new livery represents Panoz continued focus as a U.S.-based designer and manufacturer of exclusive luxury sports cars with a truly successful motorsports heritage.

“I believe all of us here at Panoz DeltaWing Racing are really looking forward to the 2016 season, especially getting back to Daytona for both the Roar and the 24,” added team principal Tim Keene. “We made good progress last year after coming to grips with some of the issues that plagued us during the first half of the season. We had a really good test in Daytona back in November and believe we have the pace needed to run up front. Daytona is the pinnacle race for us and all of the teams entered, but also the most difficult as it takes its toll mechanically in regards to the car and equipment and is both physically and mentally exhausting for the drivers and the crew. But that’s what makes it so special as well.”

Panoz DeltaWing Racing returns this year with one goal in mind: To consistently demonstrate the coupe’s competitiveness and be on the podium. The team enters 2016 following strong performances where they were up front and on-pace with the leaders in several of the late-season races including Lone Star Le Mans and Petit Le Mans.
