Hope For The Warriors® Hires Angie Skinner as Senior Director of Communications

Hope For The Warriors®, a national nonprofit that has assisted post-9/11 veterans, service members and their families since 2006, is pleased to announce its hiring of Angie Skinner, radio personality, author and military family advocate, as the new Senior Director of Communications.

Skinner has more than 20 years of public relations, marketing and communications experience. After beginning her career in radio broadcasting in the mid 1990s, Skinner began managing the career of NASCAR driver Mike Skinner. Today, she continues in that role while also serving as the Director of Sales and Marketing for NASCAR Sprint Cup Series competitor Ryan Newman. Additionally, she co-hosts “Skinner Round-Up,” a NASCAR-focused radio talk show on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, with her husband Mike. At Hope For The Warriors, she will lead the communications team in community and media relations, event management, fundraising and more.

“I met Angie through our Drive For Hope program and have been working with her since,” said Robin Kelleher, Hope For The Warriors President and CEO. “Her passion for supporting service members and their families combined with her impressive communication background makes her the perfect addition to the HOPE family. We are thrilled to welcome her aboard.”

Skinner has appeared on numerous shows, including “CBS Sunday Morning,” “ABC The Buzz” and “Fox & Friends.” She has written several articles and two books: “Turning Points, Defining Moments in the Lives of NASCAR Superstars” and “Race Day Grub.” She has served as on-air talent co-hosting “Sirius Speedway” and “Skinner Round-Up” on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. Her philanthropic work includes Skinner Round-Up, Halifax Foundation, Council on Aging, Second Harvest Food Bank and Halifax Hospital Speediatrics.

“Hope For The Warriors has spent 10 years helping service members through local and national programs. From its work with mental health causes to focusing on veteran career opportunities, HOPE helps military members and their families where they need it most,” Skinner said. “I’m excited to join the team and take a more active role in helping HOPE change lives.”

Skinner first became active with Hope For The Warriors in 2013. She attended the Scarlet & Gold Invitational as a celebrity guest for the last two years, and served as emcee at the Got Heart, Give Hope® Celebration earlier this year. Additionally, she has been instrumental in the growth and success of the Drive For Hope program while assisting the organization in growing their relationships and network within the NASCAR industry.

Drive For Hope is an initiative for which the Hope For The Warriors Community & Military Relations and Career Transition & Education programs partner with individuals and organizations within the NASCAR industry. Using racing as a central theme, the program invites service members and veterans to NASCAR events throughout the country while connecting them with professionals in the industry. Service members then have the opportunity to network with NASCAR professionals in occupations that complement their military occupational specialty and post-military career goals.
