KDDP inks promotional agreement with CBS consumer products

Alan Kulwicki was first spotted wearing a Mighty Mouse patch at Wisconsin’s Slinger Speedway in 1979. The cartoon character was highly visible on Kulwicki’s uniform when he reached the pinnacle of success in claiming the 1992 NASCAR championship. Today, seven promising young racers from across the nation proudly wear the Mighty Mouse logo while representing the Kulwicki Driver Development Program (KDDP).

The organization, set up by Kulwicki’s family members, and CBS Consumer Products, Inc., owner of the trademarked Mighty Mouse property, recently signed an agreement allowing the KDDP to utilize the character in promotional activities for years to come.

“The Mighty Mouse logo was connected to Alan Kulwicki throughout his amazing and inspirational career,” said Tom Roberts, KDDP executive director who served as Kulwicki’s public relations representative. “The character was synonymous to Alan and what he stood for. He was always the little fellow who took on the big guys and somehow came out on top.

“Our KDDP drivers can proudly sport the logo on their race cars, driver and team uniforms and all of their support vehicles. You’ll also be seeing Mighty Mouse in most all advertising we do and in connection with websites and social media activities associated with our organization.

“Our first big splash in utilizing our exciting new relationship will be on display when we introduce our special one-of-a-kind Kulwicki Cup champion’s trophy on which the Mighty Mouse logo will be prominently featured,” said Roberts. “This trophy will likely become one of the most cherished awards in all motorsports. We are looking forward to presenting it to our inaugural champion, Ty Majeski, at our awards banquet.”

The KDDP banquet is set for Dec. 14 (Alan Kulwicki’s birthday) in The Speedway Club at Charlotte Motor Speedway. NASCAR Champion and Hall-of-Famer Rusty Wallace is the featured speaker.
