Bryan Sellers To Pilot New Paul Miller Racing Lamborghini Huracán GT3

 Bryan Sellers will reunite with Paul Miller Racing to pursue the 2016 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The Braselton, Georgia-resident has signed to drive the No. 48 Paul Miller Racing Lamborghini Huracán GT3 throughout the GT Daytona (GTD) class season with Madison Snow (Lehi, Utah). Sellers, a six-time winner at the highest levels of IMSA GT racing, last drove for the Paul Miller-owned motorsports program at the 2011 Rolex 24 At Daytona where the combination finished second in-class.

 
Sellers became a hot property as a driver candidate when his long-time factory ride closed operations at the end of the 2015 season. While competing for Falken Tire, Sellers raced to at least one victory every season dating back to 2011, including a win in the 2015 Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen. The tally also includes two Petit Le Mans GT Le Mans class wins (2013, 2014).
 
Beginning in 2016, IMSA’s GTD class will allow only cars that meet the strict FIA definition of a GT3 category entry. The Huracán GT3, the customer GT3 offering of Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A, represents the return of the Italian manufacturer to WeatherTech competition. It is both Sellers’ and the team’s first time campaigning the popular dream marque. Paul Miller Racing, which finished third and second respectively the last two seasons in the GTD championship, moves from fellow Volkswagen Group marque Audi to Lamborghini while Sellers makes an intra-VW jump from Porsche.
 
Sellers has already had the opportunity to dip his toe into the Huracán GT3 waters. He joined the Mitchell Simmons-managed operation with a shakedown run of the car at Road Atlanta last week. By all accounts the car will be a strong contender for the GTD title. As Paul Miller awaits delivery of its own car expected in December, the Huracán GT3 Sellers and crew tested was on loan under a special program with Lamborghini Squadra Corse – the motorsports arm of the Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy-based company. The first official track activity for Sellers behind the wheel of the V10-powered, mid-engine supercar will come at the ROAR Before The Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway, January 8-10. The first race of the season will be the classic American 24-hour endurance race, the Rolex 24 At Daytona, January 30-31.

About his first reaction to driving the Lamborghini Huracán GT3: “I was really impressed with my first outing in the Huracán GT3. It was a very short shakedown test just to evaluate the car but it gives us a direction of what to do with set-up as well as driver ergonomics. I would say it was a very positive run. We were able to have our Paul Miller Racing guys get their hands on the car and turn their wrenches a little bit to get familiarized.”
 
About joining the GTD class: “Last year I was able to watch a fair amount of GTD racing, whether it was during their qualifying sessions or while I was in an ‘off’ stint. GTLM gets a lot of accolades for being some of the best racing worldwide, and that’s correct. However, I think GTD got passed over a little bit. Watching the races you see almost all of them came down to a last minute battle. It was good hard racing and I am excited to be involved in it.”
