Western Midget Racing has announced a triple crown of three major two-day events that will carry extra purses and excitement across California. Each two-day event will pay at least $500 to win on Friday night and $1200 to win / $150 to start on Saturday night, with additional sponsorship being sought to increase the purses even more.
A points fund of $1000 to win, $750 for second, and $500 for third is also being offered.
The Triple Crown series for the production-based Midget Series kicks off July 12 and 13 for the 14th annual Howard Kaeding Classic at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, Calif. Friday’s action includes the Ocean Sprints presented by Taco Bravo while Saturday features the NARC 410 Sprint Car Series.
On August 9th and 10th the Triple Crown continues with both nights of the 64th Johnny Key Classic at Ocean Speedway. Both nights of competition include the Ocean Sprints presented by Taco Bravo.
The Triple Crown series concludes on October 25 and 26 for the So-Cal Shootout. Friday night October 25, the Western Midget Racing competitors will debut at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway Dirt Track in Bakersfield. Joining the NARC 410 Sprint Car Series, the Friday bill is part of the famous October Classic weekend at the state of the art dirt and pavement speedway complex west of Bakersfield.
On Saturday both the Triple Crown and the overall 2024 Western Midget Racing season concludes at Ventura Raceway for championship night!
Western Midget Racing has served as a proving ground for drivers such as Brody Fuson, Caden Sarale, Blake Bower, and Drake Edwards. The current championship battle pits 2023 champion Bryant Bell against four-time 2024 race winner Logan Mitchell.
