The Las Vegas Grand Prix today surprised Hailey Dawson, a 14-year-old Southern Nevada resident and Formula 1 super fan, with four grandstand tickets to the FORMULA 1 HEINEKEN SILVER LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX 2024 in recognition of her inspiring journey.
Born with Poland syndrome, Hailey has underdeveloped muscles on her right hand. She was fitted with a 3D-printed robotic hand at age 5 by UNLV’s Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering and has since inspired many through her perseverance and determination to bring awareness and attention to Poland syndrome and 3D solutions for other children. In honor of last year’s inaugural race, UNLV created a special Aston Martin-themed 3D-printed hand for Hailey to cheer on her favorite F1 driver, Fernando Alonso, in style.
In addition to four grandstand tickets for Hailey and her family, she received a signed hat from Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso, merchandise from the Las Vegas Grand Prix and a tour of the Las Vegas Grand Prix Pit Building at Grand Prix Plaza, the 300,000 square-foot home of the FORMULA 1 HEINEKEN SILVER LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX. On the tour, Hailey was given a behind-the-scenes look into race operations facilities, along with stops at the pit lane, Fernando Alonso’s garage from the 2023 race, and a close-up look at the Las Vegas Grand Prix show car.
